Julie Rodman, OD, MSc, FAAO: No relevant disclosure to display
This course will provide an overview of optic neuropathies, including Anterior Non-Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy, Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (including Giant Cell Arteritis), Optic Neuritis, and Toxic/Nutritional Optic Neuropathies. The pathophysiology of each disorder will be reviewed. Case examples, including the use of multimodal imaging such as OCT, OCTA, and Electrodiagnostics, will be presented to emphasize the work-up of patients with optic nerve head diseases. The optometrist's role in managing these diseases will be emphasized.

Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Become familiar with the pathophysiology of Non-Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy, Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy, Optic Neuritis and Toxic Optic Neuropathy
Utilize ancillary testing including OCT, OCTA, and Electrodiagnostics in the differential diagnosis and management of optic neuropathies
Understand the optometrist’s role in the management of these conditions including which laboratory/neurologic tests are appropriate to order for each entity
Be familiar with laboratory testing and radiology orders needed to manage the optic neuropathies
Understand the treatment and management of the optic neuropathies including newer therapeutic modalities
