This course will provide an overview of Age-Related Macular Degeneration including epidemiology, pathophysiology, and risk factors. A detailed analysis of the various stages of AMD will be introduced and illustrated via case examples. The advanced stages of the disease will be emphasized highlighting the use of multimodal imaging including OCT, Fundus Autofluorescence, Color Fundus Photography and Near-Infrared Imaging. New treatment and management options for Geographic Atrophy will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Incorporate the use of multi-modal imaging into the work-up and management of a patient with Age Related Macular Degeneration
Understand the pathophysiology of Age Related Macular Degeneration and be able to accurately differentiate between the dry and wet forms
Become familiar with the new and emerging treatments for Geographic Atrophy
Differentiate characteristics of the severity of disease based on OCT, fundus autofluorescence and lesion
