This course will highlight a variety of challenging posterior segment cases emphasizing clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, and management patterns. Topics will include posterior uveitis, macular telangiectasia, congenital retinal dystrophies and degenerations, infectious retina, and retinal oncology. Preferred Practice recommendations including guidelines for diagnosis and management will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Differentiate inflammatory eye disease by reviewing various etiologies of intermediate and posterior uveitis
Understand the pathophysiology of macular telangiectasia, the use of ancillary testing in the diagnosis of the disease and the management of the condition
Accurately differentiate between inflammatory retinal disease using clinical findings, serology, and systemic correlations
Be familiar with the application of multi-modal imaging in the diagnosis and management of various retinal-choroidal disease
Introduce retinal vascular tumors including their presentation and symptomatology and apply this to differentiate and manage each appropriately
Recognize “zebras” in clinical practice and understand how to navigate through these challenging cases
