This course will take the attendee through a variety of different glaucoma case presentations that the OD may encounter in clinical practice. Each case will include polling questions to challenge the attendee and create confidence in what options are available to diagnose, treat, and manage glaucoma patients. The attendee will leave this course with confidence to tackle any type of glaucoma patient that walks in the door.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Understand 1st line treatment options (meds, SLT, etc.) for a patient with early or mild glaucoma as well as a patient with ocular hypertension
Analyze the pathogenesis of a patient with a secondary glaucoma (pigmentary glaucoma, exfoliative glaucoma) and what treatment options are preferred
Determine the pathogenesis of a patient with normal tension glaucoma and what treatment options are preferred
Draw information from the peer-reviewed literature in regards to prophylactic LPI's in patients with anatomically narrow angles
Demonstrate the proper management for a patient with chronic and acute angle closure glaucoma
Understand the balance between preventing vision loss and quality of life for patients with glaucoma
