Using a grand rounds presentation format this course will cover some common and some not-so-common retinal and optic nerve pathologies manifesting from underlying systemic disease.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Recognize common ocular manifestations of giant cell arteritis
Become familiar with the systemic workup and embolic source evaluation that should be perform in cases of acute central retinal artery evaluation
Expand knowledge with the systemic work-up should be undertaken when presented with bilateral disc edema
Identify the prognostic importance of neuroimaging in predicting the likelihood of developing clinically definite multiple sclerosis following an initial episode of optic neuritis
Strengthen diagnostic reasoning skills and the ability to apply basic and clinical knowledge in order to develop appropriate diagnostic and management plans
