This case-based course will challenge attendees with a variety of corneal disease presentations, including infectious keratitis, recurrent corneal erosions, HSV/HZV, and corneal degenerations/dystrophies. Attendees will be able to take a variety of pearls provided during this course back to clinic on Monday morning to manage some of the toughest corneal conditions that present in their clinics.
Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this activity, attendees will be able to:
Describe the different classification levels for neurotrophic keratitis and be able to properly manage these challenging cases
Perform corneal cultures utilizing plates, PCR, or other techniques and choose the appropriate treatment for bacterial keratitis
Understand the different partial thickness corneal transplants utilized to treat Fuch's dystophy and be able to manage these patients postoperatively
Understand the proper treatment for HSV keratitis and be able to classify it based on its presentation
Identify a variety of corneal dystrophies and degenerations
Conduct postoperative management and set proper expectations for a patient that is undergoing corneal collagen crosslinking
