Laser energy has been used by optometrists in certain states to treat numerous conditions for many years now. Knowing and understanding how laser energy interacts with ocular tissue is key to understanding how ocular lasers function. This interactive lecture will review tissue factors that affect laser interaction including pigmentation, transparency, and water content as well as laser characteristics that affect tissue interaction including wavelength, spot size and burn duration.
